The CPU current limit even mentions a relationship to the turbo boost. My Z170 motherboard lets me configure various power and current limits. What frequency do you actually get in various tasks? Is it consistent and repeatable, or does it fluctuate unpredictably? What's the rest of your hardware and what are the temperatures - do things like motherboard, PSU, or excellent cooling matter? How reliably can turbo be reached? This is where I would love answers from people who own a 6400, or any processor with turbo boost really. Does it require certain workload patterns on the cores? Or, more interestingly for gamers, will it happen if the CPU is loaded but the iGPU is idle?
What is turbo boost frequency full#
In what circumstances will all cores reach full turbo? It seems odd that it should be possible at all, I always thought turbo boost was for when not all cores were loaded. We see that the 6400 turbo boosts to frequencies just 100 MHz behind the 4460, a far cry from the leap backwards the base clock made it look like. 2.7 GHz is just weak, especially considering its predecessor the i5-4460 was a full 500 MHz faster.īut then I look at the turbo frequencies and things get more interesting CPU Pick, Assemble and Install: Video GuideĪt first glance the i5-6400 looks rubbish. No intentionally harmful, misleading or joke advice. No excessive posting (more than one submission in 24 hours). No selling, trading or requests for valuation. No self-promotion, advertising, begging, or surveys. No submissions about memes, jokes, meta, or hypothetical / dream builds. No submission titles that are all-caps, clickbait, PSAs, or pro-tips.No submissions about retailer or customer service experiences. No submissions about sales, deals or unauthorized giveaways. No submissions about hardware news, rumors, or reviews. Please keep in mind that we are here to help you build a computer, not to build it for you.
